Generals Capture First Win, 48-0 Defeat Of Gladiators

By Justin King

The Boise Generals are no longer winless. The Generals dominated the Great Falls Gladiators 48-0 on Saturday April 26th. The shorthanded Gladiators played a spirited game until injuries and fatigue set in.

The game started very slowly for the Generals, fumbling on their first 2 possessions. After that it was fairly smooth sailing. The offense rolled as Daniel Jenkins ran over and around the Gladiator defenders. Jenkins ran for over 200 yards with 3 rushing touchdowns. Jenkins also threw a touchdown to Britt Hall. Jenkins is a candidate for RMFL offensive player of the week. The offensive line was dominant opening holes for Jenkins and protecting their quarterback Austin Isaacson.

Isaacson is settling as the Generals signal caller, throwing his first touchdown pass of the season to Steven Petty. Isaacson finished with 123 yards passing. Hall finished the game with 2 touchdowns, one from each side of the ball. This was a great morale boost for the offense. This game by far was the best the offense looked this year.

The defense played very well. They have heard from many people around the league that they aren’t that good. The defense has a chip on their shoulders and something to prove in their minds. They responded by shutting out the Gladiators. Led by Brooks Engstrom with 8 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery returned for 57 yard touchdown; the defense stepped up. Mike Mapu was a beast in the middle. Mapu finished the game with 6 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and a forced fumble. DeAngelo Norwood made a drive stopping interception on the sidelines that helped the defense keep their shut out going. Brian Seehawer playing both offense and defense kept everything in front of him as he finished the game with 4 tackles. Quentin Bates also contributed 8 tackles for the Generals. By the end of the contest the Generals were racing each other for sacks. In total the Generals recorded 12 sacks. Skyler Woodall (1.5), Zac Jockumsen (1), Shane Cunningham (.5), and Josh Drennon (.5) all got in the books with sacks. Britt Hall capped the night with a 57 yard interception return for a touchdown. The Generals dominated the trenches and won the game going away.

The Generals travel to Arco, Idaho this Saturday May 3rd game time is at 6:00pm if you can come support your team, they would appreciate it. The Arco Anarchy are the Idaho division leaders. This week’s game is very important for league standings.

The Generals would like to thank their families, friends, and fans for their support. A special appreciation goes out to the Boise “Lady” Generals they cheered loudly all game.

Additionally, a thank you to Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy – Parkcenter for their game day treatment of the Generals.
