Generals On Mission To Reach .500

By: Justin King

The Boise Generals (2-3) and the Magic Valley Bulldawgs (1-4) face each other Saturday May 17th in RMFL Idaho Division action.

After winning their first game, the Magic Valley Bulldawgs have lost 4 straight. Injuries have hurt (pun intended) the Bulldawgs however, the Bulldawgs are ready to put themselves back into the win column.  Admittedly, this reporter does not know much about the Bulldawgs.

Statistically on offense, the Bulldawgs are led by Heyden Thacker he is a do it all type a player.  The Generals have to account for him on every play.

Defensively, the Bulldawgs are led by Henry Lozada.  Lozada can play in space and in the box. He will need to be blocked or he will make plays all day. The Bulldawgs are going to play hard and give the Generals a game.

The Generals are starting to round into a complete team. The offense has moved the ball well. If the Generals can cut down on their turnovers they should be able to win the game. Daniel Jenkins and the offensive line are on the same page as of late.  Jenkins has rushed for 300 yards in his last two outings. When the running game is rolling, it makes things easier for Tom Bennett.  Don’t call Bennett a game manager.  Bennett is still throwing a great ball to spots on the field.  No one has to remind us what the Generals want to do.  The Generals want to score quickly and often.

The defense will have some players back on the field that were hurt.  With more depth the defense is poised to play faster.  The game plan is to do just that; play faster than they have all year.  I spoke with Zac Jockumsen and he said, “We are ready to get out there and create turnovers”.

The Generals defensively, still feel they have a point to prove. People believe the Blaze and the Rebels are 30 points better than they are but the Generals don’t.  They are a good unit and will continue to improve.

This will be a great game to make a statement or to end a good run. This will be a good game. The playoffs are in sight. The Generals are thinking; it will take a win every week to get into the playoffs. The first win starts with the Magic Valley Bulldawgs on Saturday.

Show up and cheer on the Boise Generals 6:00pm in Eagle, Idaho.
