A great team Win!

Don’t look now. But the Boise Generals have won two in a row. The Generals (2-3) beat the Arco Anarchy (1-3) 20 -0 on Saturday. Some may say it was a sloppy game however some (including this reporter) say both defenses played well. The game started with 4 turnovers, 2 on both sides of the ball.

The Generals then settled down. The Generals found rhythm running the ball. Daniel Jenkins led the team with over 90 yards rushing. Jenkins had over 100 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns. With the Generals running the ball effectively the offense went to the air. The Generals quarterback Tom Bennett played his best football of the season throwing two touchdowns, one to Jenkins and the other to Jerry Smith. Smith led the Generals with 50 yards receiving and one touchdown. Smith was all over the field Saturday, also forcing 2 fumbles as a defender. Britt Hall made some tough catches for first downs to keep critical drives alive. The offensive line has been playing better in recent weeks and it shows on the scoreboard.

The Anarchy have a good team. They are big and physical. They run the ball well. They have good players in their skill positions. Make no mistake, the game was close throughout. The Boise Generals responded well to being knocked around early. The Defense was led by Mike Mapu, Brooks Engstrom and Guy Givens. Those boys played very well for the Generals. Mapu leads the league in TFL and added 3 more to that total. Givens is quick as they come on the line and opposing lines know where he is at all times. Givens had 2 sacks on the night. Engstrom was all over the place, he had 5.5 tackles with a sack. He is underrated in pass coverage but does a very good job being in the right spots.

The Generals had production from all levels. Spencer Burchard had the play of the game. With less than a minute left in the first half Burchard intercepted a ball and returned it to the Anarchy 3 yard line. Setting Jenkins for his 2nd score of the day making the score 14-0 at half instead of 7-0. Deangelo Norwood had a key pass breakup that help the Generals seal the victory.

The Generals have a bye this week and will return to action again on May 17th. Please go watch the Generals go for the third win in a row against the Magic Valley Bulldawgs at 6:00pm in Eagle, Idaho.
